Be a publishing intern!

Pivot's publications are based on an in-house style guide, however opportunities exist to apply your own style and ideas to areas not yet developed.

Get design, publishing and web design experience in the Pivot Legal Society publications unit!

Pivot Legal Society is currently welcoming applications for interns for Fall 2008.

Candidates must, at minimum, have completed at least one year of graphic design education, have excellent written and spoken communication skills, and show a demonstrated commitment to social justice issues.

Potential interns should be familiar with Pivot Legal Society and Pivot’s work through reviewing our website and publications.

Interns in the past have worked on publications supporting Pivot’s various legal campaigns and have done work that includes the:

• annual general report, the styule guide and affidavit publications;

• designing internal documents for events such as the annual auction, exhibitions and other fundraising activities.

All design work is based on Pivot's current Style Guide. However, Pivot is a growing non-profit and opportunities exist to apply your own style and ideas to areas not yet developed, such as the new guide books.

Experience that makes a difference

Like all Pivot's internship positions, the design interships are entirely voluntary. Some interns in the past have been successful in obtaining funding from their schools, government agencies, and/or international education agencies.

How to get started and deadlines

Send your resume to mmontaner[at]pivotlegal.com along with a covering letter that outlines how you fulfill the requirements of the position and when you are available and your proposed start and end dates.

Pivot will only contact candidates who have been selected for interviews. Pivot is continually accepting applications for internship positions. The number of positions available depends on available resources for the time period when the candidate is available; the more advance notice you can give of your availability, the more likely it will be that Pivot has a place available for you.
