are the most effective solutions to drug addiction problems.

Child
apprehensionThe possibility of
child apprehension looms particularly large for low-income mothers
in the Downtown Eastside. In late 2006 Pivot launched an action-oriented
research project to identify the key issues facing low-income

urgent due to years of government cuts to welfare and shelter
organizations, climbing real estate values and other aggravating

Concerns around law enforcement practices in Vancouver's Downtown
Eastside have been a focus of Pivot's efforts since the lawyers
began meeting with local residents shortly after Pivot was founded

Sex
work Sex workers in Canada are subject to severe
forms of discrimination and are extremely vulnerable to violence
and exploitation. Nowhere is this more evident than in Vancouver's
